David was a humble shepherd, gifted song-writer, brilliant military leader, passionate worshipper of God, ancestor of Jesus, and King of Israel during its "golden years." His life was also spotted by multiple failures: adultery, murder, betrayal and other moments of disobedience to God. Yet despite such character flaws, God called him "a man after my own heart."
