KW in the news…
September 30th, 2009Launch Sunday
September 25th, 2009Launch (con’t)
September 23rd, 2009Ever wanted to vist a bunch of different churches to see how they do things? A guy named Steve is doing just that. He’s calling it “the church experiment: 52 churches in 52 weeks.” He’s visiting, you guessed it, 52 churches this year, and coincidently, we were one of them. Check out his comments and observations of his experience at KingsWay (and others) on Launch Sunday here.
Re|Discover Church
September 22nd, 2009Re|Discover Church (And God) has been KingsWay’s Launch theme (and is also our message series we’ll continue for the next three weeks). I’m under the impression that the reason many people don’t go to church is because (weather it’s true or even a fair statement) church has been judgemental towards them, a lifeless experience, or even boring. I’ve gotten alot of flack from Christians in the community stating “how dare I say that church is boring!” But the fact is, I’m only stating what people who don’t go to church say. One of our Core Values at Kingsway is the “listen to outsiders.”
Interestingly, just stumbled upon a booklet that you can check out online called Re|think Church stating 10 reasons why people stop going to church and why some people start coming back.
I think some of the reasons are pretty solid, but I wonder what you think? Why are a majority of people in Maineville/Morrow deciding to pursue other things on Sunday AM?
LAUNCH!
September 21st, 2009Wow. Launch Sunday was Awesome! Fun, energetic, engaging. If you weren’t there, I think you missed out on somethign really neat!
A few highlights (in no particular order):
*Pumpkin Spice Coffee!
*Great Music!
*An engaging children’s area– Little Miami Jr. High proved to be a GREAT place as the children, preschool, and nursery all had a perfect places to meet.
*A resonably clear message from the Bible (although you’ll need to confirm that through other people). Some people decided to exchange “being good enough” for ”being forgiven” when answering the question “how do you get to heaven?”!
*A refreshment table spread that could have fed an army and looked amazing. So many children on a sugar high!
*Zero glitches in technology (when does that ever happen?)
*Even the rain was refreshing for those who worked hard stayed to tear down!
*A great spirit of team work and unity to transform an ordinary cafetorium into a place where people could come an for many, many guests (there were approximately 120 or so total)
*A great spirit of community as many people stayed long after the worship experience to chat (and drink that pumpkin spice coffee!)
*A sense of intrigue seemed to envelop the morning– a curiosity among people about what we were doing, and that something good was beginning (attributed to a strong sense of God’s presence in that place)
I’ll post some pictures when they become available!
Totally looking forward to next week where we’ll tackle more assumption that are so common in our culture regarding who God is and what he’s like. Bring a friend! Bring 5 friends!
Quotables…
September 14th, 2009“It is an incredibly difficult task to lead people from self-centered consumerism to being servant-hearted Christians. It is not a task for the fainthearted. But it is what the Great Commission is all about.” – Rick Warren
That’s what KW is all about- Developing sold out followers of Jesus.
It’s up…
September 10th, 2009Another Invitation…
September 8th, 2009Communication…
September 6th, 2009Community Communication…
September 4th, 2009We are focusing most of our communication for our launch on the “re” theme, as in “rethink,” “rediscover” or “reimagine” We want people to rethink their thoughts about church so that they might rethink their thoughts about God. So here are a few ways we are communicating that message:
Direct Mail to a bunch of homes : (with brief message/invitation on back to September 20 Launch)
Pretty Sweet.
BUT…as helpful as this might be to communicate who we are to people, the greatest impact is YOU inviting people. So, who will you invite?
