Research on Spiritual Growth

October 3rd, 2009

6a00d83451e1f069e200e553e42e708833-800wiIn the past few years, some significant research has been done on the subject of spiritual growth.  The results are published in a series of three books called “Reveal.” Many interesting discoveries in the series but two in particular:

1) The church must teach people to become ”self feeders”, that is, responsible for their own spiritual growth vs. relying on the chruch to put on a “program.”  This is especially true as people grow more and more “mature” in their faith. “People need to move from dependance on the church to a growing interdependent partnership with the chruch.”

2) The most important catalyst for spiritual growth is…..the Bible. “The Bible’s power to advance spiritual growth is unrivals by anything else we’ve discovered.” It’s not just skimming the passage and “reading” for the sake of getting it done… it’s REFLECTION on the scripture as it relates to my life.  It’s interesting–the greatest way to grow spiritually often rests 18 inches from us face every night as we sleep, often gathering dust on our bookshelf(s).  Have you read it lately..and REFLECTED on it? Heb 4:12.
